If you’re a budget conscious shopper like me, I know you get quiet a thrill when you come across these small hidden gems, tucked away from the bustle and hustle of Hong Kong.  On my way to get Vietnam visa for our upcoming vacation, I stumbled across this hole-in-the-wall pop up store on Wanchai street.  I was ecstatic because  A.  I’ve been thinking about getting a new set of dinnerware, bowls, and serving plates, but didn’t want to go to Ikea because the selection there is really lacking.  B. I didn’t want to pay over-the-top prices, because let’s face it, living in Hong Kong, what is NOT over-the-top $$$?

I remember buying from a similiar shop like this also in Wanchai a few years ago, but it disappeared a few days later.  So I could hardly contain my excitement when I found this one.  Let’s go and take a look, shall we? There were shelves and shelves of plates, bowls, dishes, spoons, serving wares, tea pots, trays and all things ceramic.  In the back of the room were all things white. There were round plates, square plates, plates of different sizes, serving plates, soup bowls, cookware and all at affordable prices. I bought a set of 8 dinner plates and salad plates.  It was a problem at home when the dishes get broken or cracked.  The sales lady told me that if it’s white, then they should have a good stock supply  and can be bought individually.  Don’t you hate it when you have a plate missing from a set of 6 or 8?  The Virgo in me absolutely detest that.  And now, problem solved. They also had a good selection of bowls with ikat print which I loved. At $10, $12 dollars?  I’m sold.  Here’s what else they have in store

They’re opened from 10am-9pm and will be at the Wanchai location until Sept.  They also have a store in Mongkok.  You can follow them on fb to find out new store locations.  If they don’t have stock in the shop, you can check with the ladies there, to see if they have more of what you want in the warehouse.  I spoke to them in Cantonese so don’t know how their English is.  So, English speakers will have to find out for themselves, Sorry!  If you purchase over $1000, deliver is free.  Happy Shopping!

***update*** Just want to remind everyone that before you take the plates/bowls home, to check them carefully for cracks or blemishes.  I had to make two trips back to exchange them because found cracks in the back of two plates.
